Year of 2011

I seriously feel like the year 2011 went by in a blink of an eye.  We just celebrated our first Christmas with our wonderful daughter.  We are so blessed to be the parents of that amazing little girl! I will post about Christmas as soon as I get the pictures uploaded from my camera and phone!

2011 started off with me being at the beginning of the 2nd trimester of my pregnancy.  Snowed a lot here in TN that month so I had a fear of driving and walking.  Scared I was going to fall or wreck!! I was beginning to feel a little better from the "night" sickness.  We had our 2 amazing baby showers, one in April by my church back home in Troy and one in May by my sister.  (FYI: I am still working on Thank You cards!! Passing kidney stones while pregnant, having a c-section, breaking my RIGHT hand which is still broken, going back to work full time, oh yeah and taking care of a baby kind of slowed me down!)  Then in June welcomed the most amazing gift from God, Little Miss Leighton Taylor!! The past 6 months have flown by, which her grow up is one of the best experiences ever.  We are so blessed to have a healthy little chuncky monkey, who loves to eat, play with her "fur" brother and sister, and laugh with her daddy!
9 days old! :)

In August I went back to work full time.  Hardest thing I have EVER had to do.  I still do, to this day cry (cried this morning).  I absolutely H A T E being away from her.  Feels like my heart is ripping out just being away from her 9 hours a day.  Thankfully, I have a night owl and likes to stay up with mommy and daddy, if not and if she went to bed at like 6:00 I would be in a deep depression!  I know I complain about it a lot but I just cannot get over it.  I have been told many times to "suck it up" "deal with it" but I can't so sorry.  Sue me.  I know one day I will be a stay at home mommy but until then I will kick and fight and cry and scream about it. So sue me again.  I do have a great boss who is willing to allow me to go down to 32 hours a week, which gives me 1 full day off with my little bit.  It will help give that mental break I need so I am not so depressed on Sundays and just want to hold my baby all day and not share her!

October was Leighton's first Halloween!! Her daycare had her first Halloween party!  We went trick-or-treating to some of the neighbors house!  We didn't do much at home because she had her 4 month check up that day and didn't feel so hot, so it was a night at home for us!

November was a month of ups and downs.  On November 14th my husband had surgery to remove his thyroid because of the possibility of cancer.  ALL 3 doctors we met with told us he only had like a 5% chance of it being cancer.  He had the surgery on Monday and on Wednesday we found out that yes it is cancer.  When my husband called and told me that it was cancer SO much went through my mind in about 2 seconds.  All three of his tumors were cancer.  This "C" word is a scary thing.  We are pretty sure that it has not spread to his lymph nodes but he will have radiation in 2 weeks and hopefully kill off the rest of the bad cells.  It is a lot to go through, something we honestly thought we would never experience.  I wish it were me going through this, he never gets sick, he is the strong one and now it is flipped and I hate seeing him go through this.  He is my rock and my everything so hearing your husband has cancer is absolutely terrifying.

On a happier note, we also celebrated Leighton's first Thanksgiving!! She FINALLY got to meet my side of the family!! Aunt Debbie, Uncle Kenny, Brent, Brandon and Malerie, Uncle Charles and Aunt Betty and Debbie my step-mom!  I took pictures of the whole experience.  I loved showing off our little angel to them!  They all love her so much!  It was also great for my mom, sister and dad to spend time with her!  It was great actually getting to eat this year, considering last year I was 8 weeks preggo and SIIICCCKKK so I didn't eat much.  I love my Aunt Debbie's cooking, she cooks just like Granny who I miss SO much and wish she was here to meet my baby.  Leighton would love my Granny, but I plan on telling her all about her one day.

December has been great and oh SO busy!  Leighton's first Christmas was AMAZING!  The day went by so fast I forgot to even get a family picture of the 3 of us, I am still upset with myself!  I will have a separate post about Christmas.

To sum it up 2011 has been a great AMAZING and wonderful year.  A year I wouldn't change even with the dreaded "c" word.  We are looking forward to 2012, with Mike's job offering great opportunities for him, me hopefully being a stay at home mommy, maybe adding more to our little family?!  2012 will be great and I can't wait to watch Leighton grow up and experience life!!
